Is White Trash a Politically Correct Term?

News from the latest theme party - it's not hard to dress up as white trash. Maybe that's because it's not far from the truth. We drank a keg of PBR and ate pork rines and pizza.

The highlights of the party, besides the festive dress, were the chainsaw blender and kitty litter dessert - mmm mmm good!

First Time at a Broncos Game

On Sunday, Chris and I had the opportunity to go to the Broncos game with some other friends and it was a blast. A great friend gave us tickets. We were in the nose bleed section about 6 rows from the very top. The Broncos lost but we still had a great time. A highlight was Chris dropping my phone in his beer. Needless to say, it didn't work after that. I was a little disappointed that the food, snacks, and fan items weren't 50% off. When the team plays at less than 50%, then fans should get a discount of 50%.

Raising Walls for Habitat for Humanity

I've had some opportunities to work on Habitat for Humanity's 17th Women Build home constructed in Metro Denver.

Habitat for Humanity Build

It was incredible to work with several women, all united to raise walls and complete this home for a special family. Many people do not know that the family members need to put in several hours of work on their new home also. This home is located at 935 Lupine Street, Golden, CO 80401.

Building Day
That's me standing in front of this awesome project. It's hard work and was an amazing experience to learn how to build a home from the foundation.

Are There Any Incentives to Being Married?

Had an interesting conversation with a nice woman I met this afternoon at a pool party. We were discussing how easy and desirable (for many) it is to be single. She actually said "men don't have any incentive to get married because they can usually get what they want without the commitment and hassle." She's probably right, and generally speaking, I happen to agree that it's more desirable for men to be single than women. And the only reason it may be easier/desirable for someone to be single is because they also have "friends with benefits." As long as a person's basic needs are met, they probably won't change their lifestyle.

If I were at a pool party in the suburbs with other women my age, I don't think I would be having the same conversation. We would probably be talking about kids, their schools, our jobs, and/or our husbands. For that reason, I'm fairly certain that the discussion was a product of living in the city where people tend to have a more disposable attitude.

Not even once since I've been married, have I ever wanted to be single. Some people give up too easily and don't want to take responsibility for their actions, that's why I think most people might think they are happier being single. Relationships can be hard. Chris and I definitely go through our own set of problems. For me, being married is incredibly worthwhile, it helps me be a better person, it keeps me humble, and it makes me feel secure. I cherish going home every evening to a/with a person who I love, loves me, and knows me better than anyone else in the world.
