Be Sure to Tell Someone The Difference They Make!

This is heavy on my heart while I'm thinking of close friends, and even myself, who have lost someone close to a tragic suicide. While we are not to blame for someone else taking h/is/er own life, this is just a nice reminder of how simple words, validation and appreciation can make a difference. Sieze the day and make every day count with those you love!

In Memory of a Special Friend & Dog

My heart is heavy because our friends' dog passed away yesterday. She was so loving, joyful, and a big part of our friendship. We enjoyed her at the park, at the lake, while camping, snow shoeing, and just hanging out. She will be missed very much. I hope our friends find peace and comfort in knowing that they gave her the best life she could have ever needed or hoped for.

Plant Trees With Me on Saturday Morning

On Saturday, May 16, 2009, I'll be planting trees at Sloan’s Lake Park for the City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation Department. Will you join me? There are many groups/people volunteering to help. The planting time is from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

All volunteers need to bring a reusable drinking container and gardening gloves if you have them. Drinking water, lemonade and ice tea are provided. Please do not bring pets/dogs or any alcohol to the park for this activity. All of the tools needed to plant trees, i.e. shovels, hoses, etc will also be provided.

We are planting 75 trees, so arrive at 8:30 a.m. If you are unable to arrive around 8:30 a.m., please come as soon as you can! Lunch will be served between 12 – 12:30 p.m. We will be watering the trees and doing event clean-up from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. We will be meeting at the northwest corner of the park at the intersection of Sheridan Boulevard and West Byron Place.

Saying Goodbye to Rocky Mountain News

After 150 years in publication, The Rocky Mountain News is closing shop today. I'm very sad about this because the RMN has been our daily paper for years, several people lost their job today, and it's another sign of the times. I'm grateful to those who have thoughtfully, and with great integrity, covered the day-to-day news of the business community, the triumphs and tragedies of Colorado and the world. Here's a photograph of what Denver looked like around the time the RMN got started by Williams Byers.

Restaurant Week Review

Little India Restaurant (1533 Champa St, Downtown Denver)

Chris and I really enjoy Indian food, so we thought we would give this a try for restaurant week. The restaurant was not available on Open Table for reservations, so we decided to wing it. We went around 7ish and did not have any problems getting a table. We weren't hungry enough to both participate in the $52.80 menu, so I selected items of off the 5280 menu (for $26.40) and Chris got his own entree. We started with the Vegetable Pakora, which was very tasty when dipped in the sweet and sour sauce; by itself, it was quite bland. I selected the Lamb Saag, Chris ordered a chicken dish. The Lamb Saag was very rich and very good. We had plenty to take home. Little India is a great choice for any night, maybe not the best value for a 5280 night. (**1/2) out of 5
